George V Windsor was descended from George II several ways,
but most importantly in the direct line through Queen Victoria,
who was the last Hanover monarch, after George III,
George IV, and William IV.
Her son Edward VII had as son George V, who thought Windsor
might sound less German during World War I
than the Merry House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
